RUGS

Installation

1. Unpack & Flatten
Unroll your rug and lay it flat.
Folds or creases may appear from shipping — this is normal and will settle over time.
To help smooth them out, gently fold the rug in the opposite direction and press with your hands.

2. Use a Non-Slip Underlay
Place a non-slip rug pad on the floor before laying down your rug.
It keeps the rug in place, adds comfort, protects it from furniture pressure, and helps dust pass through the weave — making it easier to clean.
It also helps prevent wrinkles and keeps the rug looking neat.

3. Step-by-Step Setup

  • Roll up the rug and set it aside.

  • Lay the underlay in position (rubber side down if textured).

  • Tape the corners to the floor with masking tape.

  • Place the rug roll at one end and slowly unroll it, adjusting as needed.

  • Trim any underlay that shows around the edges and remove the tape.

Care

1. Vacuum Gently
Vacuum regularly with a smooth nozzle — no brushes.
Use the widest attachment to reduce suction strength.
Vacuum both sides occasionally. Do not sweep.

2. Limit Light Exposure
Direct sunlight or intense lighting can fade natural fibers over time.
Use curtains or blinds to soften light, and rotate your rug now and then to even out exposure.

3. Remove Fuzz or Pilling
Pilling can happen with wear or friction — it’s normal.
Use a fabric shaver or trimmer to gently remove fuzz.
Always trim carefully at surface level to protect the weave.

4. Organic Plant Matter
Because our rugs are made with untreated, natural wool, it’s normal to occasionally find tiny pieces of organic material like twigs or dried grass in the weave.
The wool is thoroughly cleaned by hand before being spun and woven, but small bits of plant matter can sometimes remain. We inspect each rug before sending it out, though a few may still be missed.
If you spot anything, you can gently remove it by hand or with tweezers. Please avoid cutting the yarn, as it could damage the weave.

5. Treat Stains Immediately

  • Blot liquids with a clean white towel — don’t rub.

  • Scoop solids with a spoon, then vacuum.

  • Mix warm water with a few drops of wool-safe soap and a splash of white vinegar.

  • Place a towel under the rug to absorb moisture.

  • Dab the stain gently with a clean sponge. Repeat if needed.

  • Dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
    Avoid scrubbing to prevent pilling.

6. For Deep Cleaning, Go Professional
Only use dry-cleaning services that specialize in wool or handmade rugs.
